Ingredient needed for Amish jalapeno cheese bread

To make this delicious bread you will need:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3/4 tsp yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped jalapeno peppers
  • 1 cup freshly grated cheddar cheese (for best flavor grate your own!)
  • 2 eggs, beaten

How to make Amish jalapeno cheese bread

In a bowl, mix water, yeast, sugar, oil, salt, and flour. The dough will be very stiff, and you may need to add extra flour (up to a 1/4 cup more). Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour). In another bowl, mix eggs, cheese, and jalapenos. When dough has risen, pinch off golf ball size pieces of dough and roll into the egg mixture.

Place balls into two greased loaf pans. Add any excess cheese/jalapeno mixture to the pans. I know, it will look very ooey gooey, but it’s all good! Cover the pans and allow to rise for approximately 30-40 minutes.
