Hey there!
My name is Dani and I’m the brains behind the blog, Dani’s Midlife Homestead. Born and raised in central Pennsylvania, I have always loved the country life. I am a registered nurse by trade and live in a small home on less than 1/2 acre of ground. I am a mom to a beautiful daughter and son-in-law and memaw to three wonderful grandchildren! I have two recued dogs, Gracie and Sammie and added four chickens to my brood last year.
Dani’s Midlife Homestead was started in 2022 because I have always wanted to share my passion for becoming more self-reliant as I aged. Today, it’s a space dedicated to sharing how to grow food and preserve it on a little plot of land, as well as recipes and achieving a slow living lifestyle. I want to especially share what I know and learn with fellow middle-aged men and women who want to grow their knowledge on achieving a self-sustaining way of life.
When I’m not busy blogging, my favorite things to do are DIY projects (especially home makeovers!), gardening, thrifting, and yoga. I love spending time with my family, cooking delicious from-scratch meals, and taking long walks in the countryside with my two pups. You can often find me sitting on the porch of my neighbors or my own, discussing garden tips and learned mistakes, and laughing with friends and family over a glass of wine and homemade food. Most people are surprised to learn that I love rat rods! I once owned a 1940 Chevy truck made from bits and pieces of various junkyard auto parts. It had a beautiful patina (rust) and was definitely the talk of the town!
I’m so glad you stopped by Dani’s Midlife Homestead, and hope you’ll continue to come back and hang out.
Cheers,
Dani
