Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk of your choice (dairy, almond, coconut, or oat milk work well)
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger (or 1/2-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated)
  • pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or ghee (optional, for creaminess and better absorption of turmeric’s benefits)
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional, for added warmth)

Instructions

  • Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, heat your chosen milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling.
  • Add the Spices: Whisk in the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper. If using fresh turmeric or ginger, grate them directly into the pan.
  • Simmer and Stir: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld and the spices to infuse into the milk.
  • Sweeten and Flavor: Stir in honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract and/or coconut oil/ghee, if desired. Mix well to combine.
  • Strain and Serve: If you used fresh turmeric or ginger, strain the golden milk into a mug to remove any solids. Otherwise, pour it directly into your favorite mug.
  • Garnish and Enjoy: Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top or add a swirl of frothed milk for a latte-like finish.
