Fresh Peach Cobbler

Summer is the season of peaches, and there's no better way to enjoy them than by making a fresh peach cobbler.

Ingredients

For The Peaches

  • 3 cups fresh peaches-peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • sugar-enough to coat the peaches adjust sweetness as needed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp flour

For The Cobbler Dough

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter-cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg-beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk

For The Topping

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp butter

Instructions

Prepare The Peaches

  • Peel, pit and slice peaches into a bowl. Sprinkle with enough sugar to coat and sweeten peaches.
  • Add cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and flour to peaches. Stir to combine thoroughly
  • Dump peach mixture into a greased 9x9 baking dish

Prepare The Cobbler Dough

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Add butter and mix into the flour until crumbly
  • Add beaten egg and milk. Mix to form a thick batter
  • Drop batter by teaspoonfuls over peaches in an even layer, noting that the dough will not cover all the peaches

Make The Topping

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, and butter until it comes to a boil
  • Remove from heat and pour the sauce over the dough

Bake The Cobbler

  • Place the cobbler into a preheated 375 degree oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown on top and peaches are bubbling around the edges
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
